In a major step towards safer and more sustainable underground mining, BHP Group and Mitsubishi Corporation will deploy electric pickup trucks and fast-charging units to transport workers at Queensland’s Broadmeadow coal mine, located 34km north of Moranbah.

This technology could aid the challenging task of cutting the sector’s greenhouse gas emissions, as other mine sites begin to test out options to replace their vast diesel-powered fleets, including pickups and excavators, with zero-emissions alternatives.
